Ikos Resorts: Which One Is Right for Your Next Luxury Holiday?

From Greece to Mallorca, discover what makes the Ikos experience special, how the resorts differ and which one I'd recommend for your holiday.

There's a reason Ikos comes up so often when people start researching luxury all-inclusive holidays. Beautiful beachfront locations, exceptional dining, gorgeous rooms and a level of service that takes away much of the usual holiday planning. But here's something I think is worth knowing before you book: not all Ikos resorts offer quite the same holiday. Yes, they share the same luxury all-inclusive concept, but the setting, atmosphere, layout and accommodation can feel surprisingly different. A couple wanting somewhere romantic and peaceful might fall in love with one resort, while a family with young children could be much happier at another. And when you're spending a significant amount on a holiday, those differences matter. So, if you've been considering Ikos but aren't sure where to start, here's how I'd narrow down the choices.

What makes Ikos Resorts different from other all-inclusive hotels?

For me, the attraction of Ikos is the combination of luxury and convenience.

At many hotels, the room rate is only the beginning. You might find yourself adding restaurant supplements, premium drinks, snacks, activities and all sorts of extras throughout the week.

Ikos approaches things differently through its Unconditional Luxury concept.

Your stay includes a wide choice of dining, with menus developed by acclaimed chefs, premium drinks, 24-hour room service, a regularly replenished minibar and a selection of sports and activities.

One of my favourite features is the Dine Out programme, which allows you to eat at selected local restaurants as part of your stay.

I think that's particularly appealing if you love a luxury resort but don't want to feel as though you've spent an entire week without experiencing the destination.

There's also the Local Drive Adventure, giving guests the opportunity to explore independently with a complimentary car for a day, subject to the resort's arrangements.

Of course, not absolutely everything is included. Certain spa treatments, childcare services, academies and specialist activities may cost extra, so it's worth checking the details.

But the overall experience is designed to make your holiday feel effortless.

Which Ikos resorts are in Greece?

Greece is where Ikos established its reputation, and there are some beautiful choices across Halkidiki, Corfu, Kos and Crete.

Ikos Olivia, Halkidiki: Relaxed luxury in beautiful gardens

Ikos Olivia would be high on my shortlist for someone who wants a gorgeous Greek beach holiday with a softer, more relaxed atmosphere.

Set amongst olive trees and landscaped gardens, it has a lovely low-rise feel, with rooms, suites and bungalows spread throughout the grounds.

The setting is a big part of its appeal. You're surrounded by greenery, with the beach just beyond the gardens, and the whole resort feels designed around enjoying the outdoors.

For families, the bungalow accommodation is particularly interesting, especially if you want a little more space than a conventional hotel room.

I'd look closely at this one for couples and families who appreciate beautiful surroundings and don't need a huge, high-energy resort.

Ikos Oceania, Halkidiki: Panoramic sea views

If sea views are particularly important to you, Ikos Oceania deserves a look.

Its elevated position overlooking the Aegean gives the resort a different character from Olivia. The pools and terraces make the most of those views, and there's a sense of openness throughout the property.

I'd consider Oceania for couples who enjoy a more traditional luxury resort layout, or families who want excellent facilities without necessarily choosing the largest resort in the collection.

One detail I'd pay attention to is the location of your room within the resort. Because of its hillside setting, the layout and walking distances are worth considering, particularly if mobility is an issue or you're travelling with a pushchair.

Ikos Dassia, Corfu: Elegant beachfront luxury

Ikos Dassia is one I'd look at for someone who loves Corfu and wants a polished beachfront resort with plenty of dining and accommodation choices.

Its location on the island's eastern coast offers beautiful Ionian Sea views, and there's a broad choice of rooms, suites and more exclusive accommodation.

What I particularly like about Corfu is that it offers more than just beautiful beaches.

You have Corfu Old Town, pretty coastal villages, traditional tavernas and wonderful scenery to explore.

If you're someone who enjoys a luxurious hotel but also wants to get out and discover the island, Dassia makes a very appealing base.

Ikos Odisia, Corfu: Contemporary luxury with a sense of space

Odisia is the other Corfu option, but I wouldn't treat it as interchangeable with Dassia.

Its landscaped grounds, coastal setting and more spread-out design give it a distinct personality.

For someone who loves modern resort design, beautiful pools and a feeling of space, Odisia could be the stronger match.

I'd pay particular attention to room location here. A resort can look spectacular in photographs, but choosing accommodation that's convenient for the facilities you'll use most can make a big difference to the holiday.

If you're deciding between Dassia and Odisia, I wouldn't automatically choose the newer-looking or more expensive room. I'd compare the overall setting, the walking distances and the experience you actually want.

Ikos Aria, Kos: Greek island scenery and beautiful beaches

Ikos Aria sits on the southwest coast of Kos, with lovely views across the Aegean and a setting that feels distinctly Greek.

This is one I'd consider for couples and families who want the classic combination of sunshine, sandy beaches, good food and a beautiful resort.

Kos is also an appealing island for exploring, with archaeological sites, villages and coastal scenery beyond the hotel.

For me, Aria makes particular sense when the beach and island atmosphere are central to the holiday.

Ikos Kissamos, Crete: A new option in western Crete

Ikos Kissamos brings the Ikos experience to Crete, one of my favourite destinations to consider when people want a holiday with plenty to discover beyond their hotel.

Located in western Crete, near Kissamos and within reach of Chania, it offers access to a particularly beautiful part of the island.

Think Venetian harbour streets, mountain landscapes, traditional villages and some extraordinary beaches.

I'd be especially interested in Kissamos for people who want the luxury of Ikos but are also excited about exploring Crete.

What about Ikos Resorts in Spain?

You don't have to travel to Greece to enjoy Ikos. There are two established Spanish choices, and both offer something different.

Ikos Andalusia: For sunshine, style and the Costa del Sol

Ikos Andalusia is located on the Costa del Sol, close to Estepona and within reach of Marbella.

I'd look at this resort for someone who likes the idea of luxury all-inclusive but also enjoys Spanish culture, beautiful coastal towns, restaurants and a little glamour.

It's particularly appealing for couples, although families are very well catered for too.

One of the advantages of Andalusia is the variety of experiences available beyond the resort. You could explore Estepona, spend time in Marbella or discover more of southern Spain.

For a client who loves a sophisticated hotel and wants the option to venture out, this would be a serious contender.

Ikos Porto Petro, Mallorca: Beautiful coves and understated luxury

Ikos Porto Petro has one of the loveliest settings in the collection.

Positioned between two sandy coves on Mallorca's southeast coast, close to Mondragó Natural Park and the marina at Porto Petro, it feels very different from a large beachfront hotel.

The surrounding scenery is beautiful, with pine trees, rocky coastline and those gorgeous Mediterranean colours.

I particularly like this choice for people who love Mallorca but want a more refined, peaceful base.

It's also worth looking at the accommodation carefully. Suites and private-pool villas provide options for larger families and those wanting more privacy.

For couples who appreciate scenery and smaller coastal surroundings, Porto Petro would be near the top of my list.

Which Ikos resort is best for families?

This is where I think it's important not to recommend a hotel purely because it has a kids' club.

All Ikos resorts have family facilities, but the best choice depends on your children's ages, how much space you need and what your family actually enjoys.

For younger children, I'd look closely at the room layout, distance to the pool and beach, and how easy it is to get around the resort.

For older children and teenagers, I'd pay more attention to activities, sports facilities and opportunities to meet other children.

Ikos offers children's clubs and activities across different age groups. Some services require advance booking or additional payment.

My advice would be to choose the room and resort together, rather than finding the cheapest room at whichever Ikos happens to be on offer.

A family suite with a separate sleeping area could make a much bigger difference to your holiday than an upgraded view.

Which Ikos resort would I choose for couples?

For couples, I'd narrow things down according to the atmosphere you want.

If beautiful coastal scenery and understated luxury are the priority, I'd look closely at Porto Petro.

If you love sophisticated hotels and enjoy exploring stylish towns and restaurants, Andalusia could be perfect.

For a classic Greek island escape, Aria is an appealing option. And if you love lush surroundings and a more relaxed garden setting, Olivia deserves consideration.

None of these are adults-only resorts, though. That's worth remembering if a completely child-free environment is important to you.

The right choice is about finding a resort whose atmosphere suits you, not simply choosing the most luxurious-looking photograph.

Is the Ikos Deluxe Collection worth considering?

The Deluxe Collection is worth exploring if you're celebrating something special, travelling as a larger family or simply want more privacy and additional privileges.

Depending on the resort and accommodation category, you can find larger suites, private pools, exclusive areas and enhanced services.

But I wouldn't automatically recommend paying for Deluxe.

If you're a couple planning to spend most of your time exploring, dining and enjoying the main resort facilities, a beautifully located standard suite may be all you need.

On the other hand, if you're travelling with children, want separate bedrooms or love spending time around your own private pool, the right Deluxe accommodation could transform the experience.

It's a decision I'd make based on how you'll actually use the room.

When is the best time to visit Ikos Resorts?

For the Greek resorts, late spring through early autumn is the main holiday period.

May and June can be lovely for couples who enjoy comfortable temperatures and exploring. July and August bring hotter weather and the peak school holiday season, while September is often particularly appealing for warm seas and a slightly calmer atmosphere.

Andalusia can be attractive across a broader part of the year, although seasonal resort operations still need checking.

Mallorca is especially appealing from late spring through early autumn.

The best month will depend on whether your priority is swimming, sunshine, sightseeing, travelling with children or avoiding the busiest weeks.

So, which Ikos resort would I recommend?

My answer is always going to depend on the people travelling.

For a couple who loves understated luxury and beautiful coastal scenery, I'd start with Ikos Porto Petro.

For a family wanting lush gardens and a relaxed Greek setting, Ikos Olivia would be a strong contender.

For someone who enjoys the sophistication of the Costa del Sol, I'd look at Ikos Andalusia.

And for people who want to explore one of Greece's most fascinating islands, Ikos Kissamos is an exciting option to investigate.

The beauty of Ikos is that the luxury all-inclusive experience is consistent, but the destinations and resort personalities give you real choices.

The trick is finding the one that feels right for you.
